If you want to take part in the Early Access and if you have pre-ordered the box, then you should cancel that (canceling is possible without problems or any costs, on all distributors as far as we know) and wait until you can buy the key on Steam.

The boxed version (CE and normal version) will include a DVD and a Steam key.Įveryone who already bought the boxed via Amazon etc. I am a gamer as well and when there is a game in EA I consider for myself whether it is worth to take part in their Early Access and help them finalizing their game or not.

No one has to take part in the Early Access and everyone is free to wait until the game is finally released. The decision was made and that don't mean that we use fans as some kind of beta-tester. There were voices in favour and voices against EA, and both sides were heared. I have no more details regarding the Early Access so far, but I mean this seriously!Ī possible Early Access led to discussions earlier. The EA is not needed to finance the next months of development. Our booth personnel told me, regarding the stability, that we had just 3 crashes all over the six days of Gamescom (with six computers, so 0.5 crashes per computer in 6 days )! And when I compliment another character, there are problems with the conversation and the animations. And carts and riding horses are much too cheap, while fittings are much too profitable. The robber, the thief and the medicus for example, which are playable but far away from being balanced. This is not excusable either and will be fixed soon.

Instead, players may have noticed that there are some problems with the collision of characters (characters are pushed away or they block streets for some time) and character stay in market booths (entry points have to be replaced). But reports of bad pathfinding are not true. This is not excusable and GolemLabs will fix that until the Early Access starts (in worst case with one of the early patches during EA). Regarding the version at Gamescom 2017: the two large maps in the GC version caused lags, especially when players zoomed out. Looking back, we might have announced the start of the development of The Guild 3 one year too early, but that hadn't changed the overall development time. I just ask you to understand that a game like The Guild is a lot more complex and bug prone than other games. I don't write this here in order to excuse the long development time. The Guild is a non-linear game and every feature influences a lot of other features and that might lead to bugs - but the non-linear gameplay is what makes this game so unique. THQ Nordic will invest more money for additionnel dev time (planned release: Q2 2018) in order to have the game as free of bugs as possible. But both games came out too early and they needed a lot of patches. Long development time: Even The Guild 1 and The Guild 2 had more or less the same development time.
